Great Menderes Delta National Park is among the most important natural heritages of Turkey, with an area of 27.598 hectares. The House of Virgin Mary; According to Christian belief, 5-6 years following the crucifixion of Christ, Saint John and the Virgin Mary spent their last days at a house in the environs of Ephesus. Doğanbey, a town of Söke Village, Aydın, might be the most characteristic Aegean town carrying beauties of Greek Architecture and it is definetely a destination worth to visit. With a history reaching back to 7th century B.B., Doğanbey, or Domatia by its old name, offers various touristic spots including old Greek houses, Şorlak Waterfall and the Fauna Museum. Connected to the mainland by a pier in 60’s, Güvercinada has also been home to a castle built by famous Turkish Mariner Barbaros Hayrettin in 16th century. During Ottoman Era this castle has served as a forward base against attacks from other islands. You can take unique photographs of your ship from the island. The entrance to the castle is totaly free. You will see some peacocks after you climb the stairs, relax under the olive trees and watchover the town. Duration of Visit: 1 hour .
